Nekdo ukradl pocitac, na kterem bezel BOINC jako service aktivni po 10 minutach necinnosti. Pomoci reportovane IP adresy na strance accountu bylo mozne pred providera zjistit adresu a police se uz o zbytek postarala...nevim, jestli by to fungovalo u nas, ale pro BOINC je to dobra zprava/kuriozita.
Stolen PC recovered....thanks to Boinc!
One of my clients recently had one of the office PCs...misplace itself. It was there one day, gone the next.
Fortunately, it happened to be a client who had approved Boinc. Set to run as a service and crunching only after 10 minutes idle, the employees never knew it was there.
When the client notified me of the loss, I checked my account and found the machine was still reporting in. I checked the IP, found the ISP, and notified the local police. It took them all of a day to get the address and a search warrant. They recovered the PC this morning, from the house of a soon to be former employee.
This is not the first time Seti has rescued a stolen PC, I got a laptop back a couple years ago the same way.
So there you have it, a great way to pitch Boinc to management....Free Asset Recovery Software!

No vzhledem k mnozstvi pocitacu na svete uz se nekdo takovej muze najit.
Na druhou stranu bych si dokazal predstavit i dalsi zajimave pokracovani.
Policie pred vracenim pocitace puvodnimu majiteli pocitac prohledla a zjistila nelegalni software. Za to majiteli naparila pokutu vetsi nez byla cena pocitace. Pripadne sel sedet a potkal se v jedne cele se zlodejem.
